How I Got Fooled (Almost!)
Last Tuesday, my phone buzzed with a local 902 area code. I thought it was my neighbor! But here is the catch: it was actually a VOIP system from across the ocean. Scammers use software to mask their real identity and mimic trusted organizations like the local police or your bank.
I learned that if a caller asks for immediate action or threatens legal trouble, it’s a massive red flag. Real Canadian banks will NEVER ask for your PIN over the phone. If you're unsure, just hang up and call the official number on the back of your card. Check our ATM and Card Safety guide for more tips on physical security.
